About Us

Environmental Radio News is a radio and podcast production service dedicated to delivering stories about the full range of environmental issues. Our four-minute reports are offered at no cost to radio stations. Journalistic integrity and concern for environmental health are our core values. We seek to educate and effect positive change, while always being mindful of the fact that our connection to the natural world is, first and foremost, biological.

Stevin Westcott, Executive Producer

Stevin has 17 years of experience in environmental, conservation and agricultural communications at the national, regional, state and local levels.

He is the former producer of The Environment Show, a nationally syndicated radio show broadcast on 175 NPR and ABC affiliates. Stevin produced the show in the late 1990’s along with host Peter Berle, the former President and CEO of the National Audubon Society. The show covered the spectrum of environmental issues and was produced at WAMC-FM Public Radio in Albany, NY.

After leaving The Environment Show, Stevin went to Washington, DC, to serve as Director of Communications for American Forests, the nation’s oldest conservation organization. After leaving American Forests, Stevin went on to enjoy a 13-year career as a spokesman and public affairs specialist for the U.S. government. For six years he worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency headquarters in the nation’s capital. He then worked for seven years with the USDA Forest Service. He served as the Press Officer of the Forest Service’s Southern Research Station in Asheville, NC, and then as the Public Affairs Officer for the USDA Forest Service’s National Forests in North Carolina, one of the busiest national forest systems in the country. Stevin began his communications career as a board operator at two commercial radio stations and then as an audio engineer and reporter at a National Public Radio affiliate in Upstate New York.

As a result of his work in environmental and agricultural communications, Stevin has acquired in-depth knowledge of the many natural resource issues facing the world today. By shining the light on these issues, he hopes to increase awareness and inspire thought, discussion and action toward a more sustainable future.
